University City

University City  is often referred to as the “Golden Triangle” because it is pivotal to San Diego’s economic engine that includes research institutes, high-tech, clean-tech and bio-tech businesses.

University community is bounded by Los Peñasquitos Lagoon and the toe of the east-facing slopes of Sorrento Valley on the north; the railroad track, the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and Interstate 805 on the east; state Route 52 on the south; and Interstate 5, Gilman Drive, North Torrey Pines Road, La Jolla Farms and the Pacific Ocean on the west. The community is highly planned and divided into two areas, north and south with the areas divided by Rose Canyon and railroad tracks running through it. North UC has condominiums, town homes and high-density apartments while single-family homes dominate South. 

There are five public schools in University City:
University City High School
Standley Middle school
Marie Curie Elementary School
John D. Spreckels Elementary School
Doyle Elementary School

There are two private schools in University City:
La Jolla Country Day School (preschool – 12th grade)
Mission Bay Montessori Academy (preschool – 6th grade)
