Torrey Hills contains approximately 784 acres and is located in the northern region of the City. Torrey Hills is bounded by Interstate 5 to the west, the Carmel Valley community to the north and east, and the Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve and Mira Mesa community to the south. West of Interstate 5 is the Torrey Pines community planning area.

There are approximate 8,500 people living in the neighborhood. The median age is 36.9. There are 2.93 persons per household. The annual median household income was approximate $170,000. There are over 2,900 houses in the neighborhood and vacancy rate is 0.6%.

Torrey Hills Elementary School in this community is a high-achieving elementary school, which includes kindergarten through 6th grade, and has an active after school program organized by the Del Mar Union School District.  Students from Torrey Hills Elementary usually attend Carmel Valley Middle School in Carmel Valley. After middle school, most students attend Torrey Pines High School or Canyon Crest Academy.
